Donation to POSI by The Johari Medical & Research Foundation and The Child Care Foundation

A donation of INR 5,000,000 (equivalent to USD 72,277 or EUR 64,300) from The Johari Medical & Research Foundation and The Child Care Foundation was made to the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of India (POSI) in January 2019. The fund, which is called the Johari Education Fund, will be utilised towards the training and education of paediatric orthopaedic surgeons.

The Johari Medical & Research Foundation (JMRF) is a registered charity working towards the cause of alleviation of patient suffering and handicap, better patient care, enhancing the knowledge and training of doctors and contribution to science by way of medical research. The trust is headed by two prominent doctors from Mumbai, Dr Ashok Johari, SICOT President Elect, and Dr Usha Johari.

INR 2,080,000 was donated by admirers and friends of Dr Benjamin Joseph and Dr Ashok Johari, torch bearers of the specialty of Paediatric Orthopaedics in India, to establish the Joseph Johari Award for travel and fellowships.

The cheque was handed over at the Silver Jubilee Conference of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of India (POSI) held in January 2019 at Mumbai. This meeting was endorsed by SICOT. On this occasion a book on the history of POSI was brought out. In the future the two foundations hope to donate handsomely for SICOT’s educational efforts.
