SICOT Ortho Excellence Programme
The SICOT Ortho Excellence Programme has been one of the most successful initiatives of SICOT and of its Education Committee. Started in August 2012, the programme consists of a number of webinars with a different focus each year. The speakers are eminent orthopaedic and trauma surgeons chosen from different parts of the world for their expertise. The topics are carefully chosen for applicability to day to day practice of Orthopaedics and Trauma. The program chair is Prof Ashok Johari from Mumbai, India, who is also the Chair for the Education Committee.
Over 7,500 orthopaedic surgeons from across the world have registered on the website: www.sicotoep.com. They can participate in the live webinar and also have access to all webinars which are archived on this site. 27 webinars have taken place between 2012 to 2015 and six more will take place in 2016 and February 2017 (schedule). This is rich educational material from world leaders covering a very wide cross section of orthopaedics and trauma and freely available to all SICOT members. During the webinar, participants can discuss their queries with the speaker and also answer MCQs related to the topic. Participants in India receive a booklet of slides of the webinar programme with the MCQs answered. Booklet and CDs of the webinar are distributed to 8,000 surgeons in India. This is truly knowledge brought to the door steps.
This year the first 25 surgeons who answer the MCQs with high marks will get free SICOT membership. Surgeons will be able to see the webinar on their mobiles after scanning a QR code. Abbott Healthcare is the sponsor for this programme held under the auspices of SICOT.
